- Zane (Sin City Sanguines #1) by Amanda Sebring - 5 Stars -

“I’m a good vampire, Quinn. Not a good man. I can’t have it both ways, and neither can you.” Forget everything you know about vampires. They’re as mortal as you are. They’re born, they live, and they die as vampires. They eat, sleep, laugh, and bleed like you do. And when immortality isn’t an option, they have much, much more to lose. Zane Carus lost his father at fifteen. Over the next seventeen years, he built a family of rogue vampires alongside his sister, Savannah. The strongest of his kind in Vegas, Zane became a known, respected, and feared Coven Master, ruling the streets of Vegas like a king. Until he nearly killed a rival Coven Master in a brutal confrontation, and the rest of the Sin City Sanguines declared war. Now his coven has disbanded, Savannah is a captive of the rival coven, and Zane is being hunted by every faction in Vegas to answer for his crime. And when he’s caught, a horrific fate is already in store for him. It’s up to his old friend and lover, Quinn Masterson, to find him and rescue him before his captors can carry out their demonic intentions. As a detective and a Witch, she should have no trouble, but pitting herself against every vampire, vampire hunter, and hybrid in Vegas is a deadly venture. Quinn will stop at nothing to see her vampire safe again, even if it costs more than her life to save him.

Vampires have their bite again.

I will always have a place in my heart for vampires, they are my absolute favourite and I will even admit that lately the vampire reads have become a bit monotonous and repetitive. Not ZANE! Amanda has a wicked way with words and storytelling, her prose is on point with a great knack for scenes that get your heart racing and fingers wanting to turn those proverbial pages. From the beginning to the end, ZANE left me on my seat, squirming at times and falling in love with the characters that Amanda has created. Darkly delightful with masterful storytelling and a kickass imaginative world, you cannot go wrong with this book. I devoured it and sit and wait for its successor, because Sin City Sanguines is a staple on my vampire fiction shelf. With enough action, blood thirst and angst, there is a rollercoaster of emotions the characters face and with Amanda’s spot on writing, you feel like you are ok their shoes. I loved it, I loved it, I LOVED IT.
